USC guard O.J. Mayo was named to the All-Conference First Team, Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Monday.

A freshman from Huntington, W. Va., Mayo averaged 20.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. His scoring average was second in the conference to California's Ryan Anderson.

Sophomore forward Taj Gibson was named to the third team, after averaging 11 points and 7.7 rebounds.

Gibson also led the league in blocked shots, which secured his place on the All-Defensive team.

Mayo was also named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman team, along with forward Davon Jefferson. Jefferson was named All-Conference honorable mention.

USC men's basketball coach Tim Floyd denied interest in the coaching position at Louisiana State University on a conference call Tuesday.

"This is my last job," said Floyd, who previously coached at University of New Orleans and the New Orleans Hornets, and earned his bachelor's degree at Louisiana Tech.

Floyd is 62-35 in three seasons at USC.

Former coach John Robinson is one of four former Trojans nominated for the College Football Hall of Fame.

Robinson, who led USC to the 1978 National Championship, is joined by tailback Sam Cunningham (1970-72), tight end Marlin McKeever (1958-60) and wide receiver Hal Bedsole (1961-63).

Linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr. is also on the ballot. Norton was an All-American in 1987 for UCLA.

While some current Trojans are training for the NCAA Indoor Championships, former members of the USC track and field team competed in the World Indoor Championships.

Angela Williams won the 60-meter dash and Candace Davis finished second in the 60-meter hurdles at the World Championships in Valencia, Calif., over the weekend.

"Our alums did extremely well on the international scheme," said USC director of track and field Ron Allice.

Williams, who graduated from USC in 2002, ran a season-best time of 7.06 seconds in the 60. She is the Trojans' record-holder in the 100-meter dash and a four-time NCAA Champion in the event.

Davis, who graduated last spring, took the silver medal with a time of 7.93.

The USC track and field record-holder in the high jump, Jesse Williams, also competed at the Indoor Championships. He cleared 7-5 1/4, finishing in a tie for sixth place.

With two medals from former Trojans, the United States edged out Russia in the overall medal count, 13-12.
